Ready for Escape

....he felt as though the ringing in his ears was going to send him deaf,
the sudden silent environment was a shock to his system.
"shit!" he whispered to himself "how the hell did they...."
he broke off the rest of his sentence, every sound seemed to reverberate off of the
grungy walls of the public bathroom in which he had taken refuge and it made him increasingly uneasy.
Sliding down to sit on the toilet seat lid he pulled out a cigarette and lit it taking in a lungful of the hazardous smoke.
He didn't know whether any of them were following him when he had fled but he couldn't think of anywhere else to hide out.
There was only one thing he was absolutely sure of now,
there was nothing left for him there anymore, everyone was dead and everything he belonged to had burnt to the ground .
